Elly Truesdell is the Northeast Regional Local Forager for Whole Foods Market, developing local supplier partnerships and overseeing local purchasing for 31 stores throughout New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. She moved into her role in May of 2012, after 4 years with Whole Foods Market with a focus on strategic partnership and sponsorship development. Elly is responsible for developing new buying relationships with suppliers, farmers and artisans, across product categories. As Forager, Elly visits production facilities and farms, offers resources and guidance to smaller wholesalers and launches new value-added brands with a focus on their development and growth to new markets. Elly has a B.A. in Media Studies from the University of Virginia and began her food career as a volunteer on Siena Farms, an organic vegetable farm in Sudbury, MA, during the summer of 2008. Whether on the job or not, you’ll likely find her eating, cooking or adopting a new food obsession, dependent on the season.
